On 15 September 2026 Elizabeth Devine presented a webinar on the topic of ‘General Protections: Decision-makers and Questions of Evidence’ hosted by Legalwise Seminars.  In her presentation Elizabeth discussed the significant increase in general protections applications in the past 12 months which has been attributed to the use of AI by the Fair Work Commission, explained what a general protections application is and the onus of proof which is borne by both the applicant (employee) and the respondent (employer) in such matters, explored the key role of the decision-maker and documentary evidence in defending a general protections application, discussed a range of decision-making scenarios and provided tips for how best to reduce the risk of an unfavourable finding in a general protections application.
