Ethical Issues Outside of the Workplace

On 11 March 2016, Elizabeth Devine presented a paper entitled ‘Ethical Issues Outside the Workplace: Did I just say too much?’ to a Legalwise Seminar held in Sydney. In presenting the paper, Elizabeth discussed the relationship between out of work conduct and an employee’s employment and the tensions which arise in that relationship.  She explained the key obligations of an employee in relation to out of work conduct, examined the rights and responsibilities of employees when they express their opinion and discussed the risks associated with the use of social media.  Elizabeth also provided practical guidance on how to manage interaction with clients outside of work.
